"The cross has said it all.
I never recognized Your touch
Until I met you at the cross.
We are fallen, dust to dust.
How could you do this for us?
Son of God, shed precious blood.
Who can comprehend this love?"
(from The Cross has said it all
by Matt Redman)
As our traveler's vision becomes clearer, his heart is captured by the beauty of the One who gave His life to quench this thirst for meaning and purpose. Complex and radiant color begins to flow.
“All of the things that hold my heart,
All of the pleasures of this life
Cannot compare to who You are
And the treasures of Your love.”
(from Satisfy by Glenn Packiam)
God said, “I have loved you with an everlasting love… I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.” What is engraved on the palms of Jesus’ hands? …the wound from the nail that my sin used to hang Him on the cross. For that cause, He died, so that His wound would bring life to me, to bring me out of the darkness and into the light.
The Living Water is full of grace and power, a waterfall so abundant that it cannot be contained even by the canyon walls but comes pouring forth, splashing and dancing and bringing great beauty to the rocky landscape of life. “For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be your shepherd; He will lead you to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from your eyes.” (Rev 7:17)
Once we have tasted and seen, we now know that the the Living Water is Jesus, the Alpha and the Omega, the Author and Perfecter of faith. The water IS the Word and it is golden, penetrating and transforming. “Know this love that surpasses knowledge, that you
may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Eph. 3:19)
The city on a hill: This is our final destination, its beauty a result of the flask, broken and spilled out for us.
“I’m coming up the mountain, Lord, I’m seeking You and You alone. I know that I will be transformed, my heart unveiled before You. I’m longing for Your presence, Lord.“
(from Can I Ascend by Matt Redman)
